IC INFORMATION;
Characters Name: Anise Tatlin
Age: Thirteen
Canon: Tales of the Abyss
Canon Point: Post!Running away to the Cathedral after Ion's Death.
Species: Human
Gender: 100% Female
Orientation: Heterosexual
History: can be located here!
Appearance: isn't she a cutie
Personality:
When you first encounter Anise, she comes off just as you would expect a normal thirteen would. She's energetic and has a child-like air of excitement around her. Anise's personality adapts to the the situation around her. She often can be like child, however, she can just as quickly turn into someone mature. This is due her to lack of childhood. Her parents got into a dept when she was a young child forcing her to have to grown-up quicker than one should. She also had to begin working for someone that she detested and disagreed with due to her parent's gullibility.
Due to the dept of her parents, Anise's bubbly persona is often used as a cover for how she truly feels underneath. She'll often act more child-like when covering or hiding something. Despite that, she is still exceptionally skilled at lying. She was a spy for a good portion of the game, only to begin losing her lying edge when the group began to get too close to the truth. She admits lying to the group during the entire journey and hated it the entire time; however she couldn't do anything due to loyalty to her parents. Anise has a very tricky, slippery personality due to this way of life. When her mind is put to it, it's not hard for her to convince someone of something false. It is only when guilt or regret get the best of her that she begins to break and lose the security of her lie.
Anise also finds it hard to trust others, and often frowns upon others gullibility. Another damage done on by her parent's actions. Many times during the story, Anise comments on how stupid the group is due to their ability to believe in others. However, this is mostly due to the fact that she is forced to be a double-spy. She can't bring herself to pity or hate people that have faith in others however. Nor can she bring herself to hate pitiful people. It reminds her too much of her parent's personality. Her attitude towards people and situations like this are often covered up with questions. 'Why are we trusting someone that betrayed us?' 'Should we really believe this person?' More than often enough, they are doubting the group's decision and pushing them to consider what the person had done. Are they truly worth trusting? Are they even worth trusting? It isn't as common for her to voice her own brash thoughts; unless everyone had already left and there's no one in sight.
Anise has gone through her life caring for others either indirectly or directly. This brings her to have an air of an older sister. If she likes her, she's more often than not willing to help with your problems. An example would how she acts towards Luke and Ion during the series. She puts herself in charge to ensure that they don't do anything stupid. She also has a soft heart, something hidden deep under her own misgivings. This pushes her to help others that she believes need it or rather 'don't make smart decisions'. It doesn't help that she is wonderful at mundane tasks that you'd expect a mother or older sister would be good at. With that, she helps take care of the group.
However, Anise is still thirteen. Despite how mature she may pretend to act or seem to be; she's still a kid. She isn't above holding grudges or bluntly insulting someone (whether in a backsided compliment or just pure insult). Anise also occasionally needs a side to lean on, even if she doesn't want to admit it. Like any child, there are times when she needs to reassurance of others. She can't handle everything herself as it eventually eats away at it as it would anyone. Because of this, she often has to turn to others for help. When she does this, however, it is not so blunt. Rather she does it in a rather roundabout way. Asking questions to get reassurance or pushing them to ask how they feel about a situation.
Much of how Anise reacts depends on the situation. She isn't one that likes to show weakness to others; it doesn't matter how much she likes or trusts them. Situations that revolve around her and not the group, she keeps her to herself. An example would be how she feels towards Arietta. She appeals to the group that she hates the gloomy girl, but that is not all. She often mentions Arietta's loss and subtly brings to light that she hates how everything turned out for the God General and wishes that it didn't have to be this way. However, this is never something that she'd openly mention to the group. Rather, she keeps her emotions at arm's length and deals with the hatred that the girl deals at her head done. She comments that she can handle it; that she'll bear everything that Arietta feels towards her. However, this may be because Arietta falls into Anise's soft spot of 'people who didn't ask for the sucky life that they have'. Not that Anise doesn't hate the girl back, it is a mutual hate. However Anise's hate is less directed straight at Arietta but other how her personality comes out to be. That rather than moving on she clings back onto the past. Anise puts it upon herself to protect Arietta from the truth about Ion though. She knows how terribly it would effect the girl and, just like many of the other God Generals, knows that it would not do any good to tell. However, in front of the group, she hides this behind rude comments about the girl.
However, when it comes to open group situations, her emotions are a lot of more open. She won't have a problem crying in front of them or displaying pure emotions. This is due to the trust that she has in them. Despite all of her issues, she still believes in these dorks. There isn't need to hide how she deals about something that everyone is dealing with.
Unless you completely rub Anise the wrong way, her insults usually have two meanings. The obvious meaning and how she actually feels. Despite how harsh her childhood was, Anise doesn't hate people easily. Unless you take advantage of someone that she loves, however it usually depends on reason. Due to the fact that she had done terrible things that she hated herself, Anise is the type to get the full story before making a decision. Especially if you are close to someone she lovesor a replica of them or if she had known you a long time. However, stupidity isn't a good reason for making a bad decision. This is why she, like the rest of the group, turns away from Luke when he messes up. Not only was he a jerk, but he listened blindly like an idiot.
Anise loves teasing others. It doesn't help that she's observant; meaning that once she catches something she can tease you on - she will. It brings the point of her child-like behavior back. She enjoys making jokes and pestering others. She also loves acting in a childish behavior to get what she wants from certain people. She'll often hug people in order to act cute and get what she wants from them. She'll also act innocent when doing something wrong or if she didn't do something right. Anise is the type that attempts to use her 'womanly' charms to get people to do what she wants. Once/if this doesn't occur, she'll most definitely threaten the person underneath her breath.
Speaking of threatening someone, you do not mess with people that Anise loves. You don't bash them either; it is the number one way to piss Anise off. Not that Anise doesn't have a temper, she is quite quick to get pissed off. Hence why she argues with the God General Arietta so much. When she isn't in the middle of protecting someone, Anise has rash tendencies. She won't charge right into battle, but she won't back down either. Anise isn't the giving up type; rather she's awfully determined. She'll stick through something till the end. Once she has something set in mind (unless something drastic happens to change it), she'll make it a mission to have this happen. An example would be Anise's past wish to marry a rich husband. She carried this wish for months during the game; never quite admitting defeat. Not until she realized that it wasn't the way to go.
Anise is both curious and nosy. Just like a teenage girl should be. She isn't above gossip or eavesdropping if something seems interesting. Such as a relationship between two rival military lovers. It doesn't bother her that it isn't quite the nicest thing to do or the 'right' thing to do. If it isn't obvious by now, Anise isn't above sly, under the table methods (except she isn't quite the fan of bribery.) She likes knowing things, and doesn't mind getting into business that she shouldn't be sticking her nose into.
Overall, Anise is a sweet girl, topped with a devious traits, sprinkled with a harsh, unwilling double-agent life, covered with a childish attitude with a nice cherry of being a sister-like type on top. With flavors of being blunt and being chipper mixed in. Whereas depending on which slice you get can bring up a different taste of Anise.
Abilities:
Anise is a puppeteer; she controls her doll, Tokunaga, to fight in battle. The doll is connected to her fonon frequency so that it will expand from it's small size and enables her to control it's moment. With that, she is able to use strike artes to disable/fight her opponent. Along with the strike artes that come from Tokunaga, Anise also knows four fonic artes ( eight including FOF changes and even more including doll abilities. ) She is able to cast these spells from a distance with the right incantation once she has learned them. These artes include Limited, Negative Gate, Bloody Howling, and Miracle Hammer.
Along with her fighting techniques, Anise also has AD skills. These are skills gained as she levels up to help her win in battle. A list of this can be found here.
Normal abilities would be that Anise is an exceptional cook. Something that she slightly prides herself upon as she wants to be able to please her husband when she gets older. Overall she is good at household skills that include cleaning, laundry and other mundane tasks.

Oh booo! This place is boring. Can't the landlord see that I have more important things to do back home! I can't even train or anything; stupid bastard took my abilities away. ( w h o o p s , did she say that out loud? )
E-heh... ( maybe it was time for a subject change ) But I am a bit curious, what's this Valentines Day that's coming up? I didn't have it back home. Is it just for couples or something? That would explain all of the hearts and lovey-dovey goop.
Wait..., do people really have a day to give chocolates to the person that they like? Who came up with that idea. Must stink if you don't get any chocolate at all. ( hrmmm.... ) Especially if you're married or something.
Something tells me that this holiday could cause a lot of fights. Buuut, I guess it could also help people admit their feelings or something.. Y'know this place might just get interesting...
Third Person:
Anise was unhappy; unhappy by all means of the word. She was angry, sad, moody, and maybe even a bit gloomy. Gloomy was not her thing. She wanted to be home, yet at the same time she didn't. Not after she want she had just done. Did anyone even want her home. Oh, everything sucked. She had been making sure to avoid everything on streets as she walked along the Shopping District. She had a lot of think out.
Even Tokunaga was missing.
"Oh, I'm going to squash the Landlord. Taking away Tokunaga; who does he think he is. Bringing me here too!" She muttered darkly to herself as she rounded another corner. She knew that is wasn't helping anything, but she really couldn't help it. She glanced behind her hoping to see the doll that was her trusted companion and best friend that had been taken when she arrived. Oh, of course he wouldn't be there. She shook her head. Nope. Shouldn't concentrate on that.
She'd never been in a place like this before. It was nothing like Daath. It was going to be interesting, at least. Anise would also have to get used to being a normal girl. No powers or anything. Another thing that threw her off. "Well, I guess I can't squash anyone in the mean time." She muttered to herself again, her tone a bit lighter than before. She was smart enough to realize that she couldn't stay angry forever. In the mean time, maybe she should stop avoiding everyone in sight. It'd probably be smarter to ask them if there was a way to get things from the landlord.
Anyone in the streets may spot a dark-haired girl now looking for someone to talk too. If she spots you than don't be surprised if she hops over to you with a questioning tilt of the head. Any sights of her former angry would be hard to spot. While her face was still flushed from being upset it's hidden behind a child-like demeanor of curiosity.
